IHRP Lia

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Sex: Mare Age: Rising 7 Height: 10hh Lia is a lovely 10hh rising 7-year-old pony with an exceptionally calm and level-headed temperament. She came into us in foal and has since had a handsome colt, Lief. Throughout her time here she has proven to be a wonderfully steady and unflappable little mare, with a kind nature and an easy attitude to everything asked of her. She has had her basic groundwork established and has been introduced to wearing a teddy, taking it all completely in her stride. Nothing seems to bother or phase Lia, making her an ideal candidate to further develop as a lead rein pony. She is straightforward and uncomplicated to handle and is a pleasure to have around the yard. Key details: Rising 7 years old Approx. 10hh Arrived in foal – colt (Lief) Basic groundwork established Introduced to teddy Super potential lead rein pony Exceptionally calm and level headed Easy and straightforward to handle Lia would flourish in a caring and consistent home where she can continue her education gently and sympathetically, and we have no doubt she will make a wonderful and dependable child’s pony. About IHRP Lia

What life with IHRP Lia looks like

IHRP Lia is a adult mixed breed horse waiting at Irish Horse Rehoming Programme in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting IHRP Lia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about IHRP Lia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Irish Horse Rehoming Programme handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw IHRP Lia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt IHRP Lia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Irish Horse Rehoming Programme will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is IHRP Lia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most horses on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if IHRP Lia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Irish Horse Rehoming Programme early rather than rehoming privately; they know IHRP Lia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
