Immi

Mixed Breed · Female

Immi is a three to four-year-old female dog from Romania currently living in a foster home in Oberhausen. Over the past few months, she has developed incredibly. From a very cautious dog, she has become curious, lively, and especially affectionate. Immi seeks contact on her own initiative and thoroughly enjoys petting. She naturally seeks physical closeness with her caregivers, likes to lie down with her human and then just as relaxed returns to her own place. She also shows more and more joy in life outdoors. On the field, she loves to run around, explore her surroundings and just be a dog. She now voluntarily gets on a leash and also enjoys car rides. Other dogs play an important role for Immi. She orients herself to them, benefits from their security and enjoys social contact. Immi likes to challenge other dogs to play and then playfully races with them. Therefore, regular dog contact should be ensured in her future life. A confident, social and open-minded dog in the new home would be a nice support for her. Despite all her development, Immi is still uncertain in some situations. With strangers or new situations, she sometimes needs some time to make a picture and gain trust. She needs people who can read her body language, take her signals seriously and give her security with calmness, reliability and a clear, fair framework. We wish Immi a rather quiet and well-structured home with dog-experienced people, preferably with a securely fenced garden and the willingness to patiently walk her further way. Immi no longer needs to learn that closeness to people can be nice - she knows that very well now. She needs people with whom she can continue to seek this closeness voluntarily and who at the same time accept when she needs distance. Whoever experiences Immi today gets to know a cheerful, loving and affectionate dog who, despite some uncertainties, has already gone an incredibly long way - and now seeks people with whom she can finally arrive. The uncertainty belongs to Immi, but it no longer defines her. Foster home: Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia Mobile: (WhatsApp first)

DE·Show original

Pflegestelle: Oberhausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Handy: (whatsApp first) Die

About Immi

What life with Immi looks like

Immi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Oberhausen in Oberhausen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Immi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Immi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Oberhausen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Immi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Immi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Oberhausen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Immi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Immi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Oberhausen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Immi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
