Adopt Inka

Mixed Breed · Female

My name is Inka. I am still a tiny puppy of the terrier type and I am just learning the world — everything new, interesting... and sometimes also a bit scary. On March 17, 2026, I came to the animal shelter as a result of an intervention. I was found in the park on Paderewskiego Street in Zabrze — I was alone, lost and left to my own devices. Fortunately, someone noticed me and helped me get to a safe place. I have already been vaccinated and dewormed, so I am healthy and ready to find my home. When I grow up a bit, I will have a free, mandatory spaying procedure. As a female dog of the terrier type, I have a lot of energy and a natural instinct for tracking. I love sniffing, discovering smells and exploring my surroundings — the world is one big adventure for me! This means that I will need a caregiver who will provide me with the right amount of movement, activities and above all... work for my nose. Walks are more than just going out for me — it's time for exploration and learning. I am also a typical puppy — curious and a bit of a troublemaker. Sometimes I nibble at a person's nose, but that's just my clumsy attempt at play and getting attention. I need someone who will teach me delicacy and show me how to play properly. I will be best suited for an active, patient and aware person who understands the needs of hunting dogs. Someone who will spend time on my upbringing, teach me the rules and show me that cooperation with a human can be a wonderful adventure. In return, I will give you great joy, devotion and that special bond that is built with a dog from puppyhood. I am curious about the world, smart and very social — I just need someone who will guide me through life wisely and with a heart. Maybe it's you who will show me what a real home is?

Jestem też typowym szczeniakiem — ciekawskim i trochę rozrabiaką.

About Inka

What life with Inka looks like

Inka is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Inka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Inka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Inka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Inka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Inka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Inka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Inka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
