adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Inverness has found a home! Her story: Is there someone out there who can bring the big beautiful eyes of our Inverness back to life? It's finally time for the little mouse to learn what love and a foster home are. Nessie, as she is called here, is approximately 2.5 years old and was found alone and abandoned on the parking lot of a factory in a cardboard box with her 3 kittens. It's impossible for us to understand how a mother with her kittens could be left to fend for herself. Fortunately, we were informed and were able to place the sweet ones in one of our foster homes. All four were very undernourished and had parasites of various kinds. However, they were spared worse and are now in good health. Now, the sweet mommy waits at her foster home for her chance to meet her soulmates. Little Nessie is a charming young cat mom. She has taken great care of her kittens with love and dedication. She doesn't seem afraid of people; on the contrary, she loves it when she gets attention and cuddles, but she is never pushy or would actively demand them. Nessie is a very balanced female cat and will surely integrate easily into the family life of her people. Nessie enjoys being with other cats and gets along well with them. Therefore, she should be placed with a cat-friendly home or perhaps bring a good friend or companion from the foster home. Life as an outdoor cat is not suitable for Nessie, as her background has made her too accustomed to traffic and she cannot properly assess the danger. However, she would surely be very happy with a secure balcony where she can enjoy the sun and observe birds.

About Inverness

What life with Inverness looks like

Inverness is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Inverness, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Inverness?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Inverness on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Inverness if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Inverness already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Inverness isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Inverness and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
