Iota

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 13 years

Type/Breed: European (NON LOOF) Age: born on 01/06/2013 Identification number: 250268732335870 History: due to the move, Iota is usually alone most of the time even on weekends and does not seem to be getting used to it. He developed idiopathic cystitis. Personality: Iota is a cat who talks a bit, very calm, very curious and affectionate. Playing is not his thing but he loves rolling on the floor! He can be carried in arms, he willingly allows it! Be careful with the food. Obesity is a risk factor for cystitis. He meows in the morning to get his bowl and finishes it without any problem during the day, which is why you need to be careful and make sure he does not become too greedy: he needs to be fed in portions. Adoption fee: 122 euros (including membership) Adoption outside of France is entirely possible. However, the adoption amount must be increased by the fees related to leaving the territory (rabies vaccine and passport required 21 days before his departure). The adopter should also be able to visit the foster family to meet the animal. Tested for FIV/FELV: YES, negative To adopt, please fill out this form:

About Iota

What life with Iota looks like

Iota is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Action 4 Pets in France.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Iota, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Iota?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Action 4 Pets handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Iota on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Iota if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Action 4 Pets will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Iota already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Iota isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Action 4 Pets early rather than rehoming privately; they know Iota and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
