Adopt IRAK

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Date of birth: 2015. IRAK came to our animal shelter because the animal shelter that adopted him refused to take the dog back. Since IRAK was accepted, he has not caused any problems in the animal shelter. Although IRAK has his favorite people in the animal shelter and likes to go for walks with them, we know from previous owners that he has had attacks on strangers. He shows his best side once he gets to know someone well, but it must be remembered that adopting IRAK means that strangers cannot pet him. Adoption must therefore be responsible, preferably by someone with experience with dogs. In the cage, he lives with another dog and gets along very well with him.

Data urodzenia: 2015 rok. Irak trafił do naszego schroniska ponieważ schronisko, z którego został adoptowany, odmówiło przyjęcia psa z powrotem.

About IRAK

What life with IRAK looks like

IRAK is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Kraków in Kraków.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: History of aggression towards strangers - requires experienced handler and cannot be petted by unknown people

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting IRAK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about IRAK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kraków handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw IRAK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt IRAK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kraków will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is IRAK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if IRAK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kraków early rather than rehoming privately; they know IRAK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
