adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Irma has found her home! Her story: Irma has taken the big step and arrived well in her foster home in Germany. There, it quickly becomes clear: She has a lively, clever little personality with a lot of charm—and a big need for cuddles. Irma is playful, sassy, smart, and curious. She explores her surroundings with a keen eye and tries out new things with enthusiasm. She especially loves being close to her trusted people and eagerly invites her cuddle units—she can't get enough of it. With other dogs, Irma gets along easily, and even cats pose no problem for her. At the same time, she also shows her sensitive side: With strangers, Irma is currently still very afraid. In these situations, she does not want to be touched and needs space, time, and patience. She decides when she can allow closeness—and that should be respected. With calm, sensitive handling and without pressure, Irma will learn that new people are not threatening. Irma is a friendly female dog with a fine sense for her environment. She observes a lot, thinks with, and learns quickly. In a home that offers her security, clear structures, and loving guidance, she will continue to gain self-confidence and open up more and more. For Irma, we wish people with patience, empathy, and understanding for a sensitive dog. A calm handling, stable trusted people, and a stable environment are particularly important for her. People who take the time to get to know her, learn to read her, and are happy about every small progress will find in Irma an incredibly loving and faithful companion. Irma has left the difficult start behind her—now she needs a home where she can arrive at her own pace, with all her curiosity, her sassy nature, her cleverness, and her big desire for closeness. Irma is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She will be. We thank Alexa K.! You have given Irma her name and thus a personal identity. As of: 11.02. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

Stand: 11.02.2026

About Irma

What life with Irma looks like

Irma is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Irma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Irma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Irma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Irma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Irma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Irma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Irma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
