Isco

Mixed Breed · Male

Isco is a true giant of a puppy: At his current 30 kilograms, he is far from fully grown – his large wolf-like claws and sturdy build reveal that he will still gain a lot of weight. Isco’s story begins in a small village where he went on solo excursions, always in search of food and affection. Fearless and rather unapologetic, he simply marched into various houses, greeted the residents warmly, and charmed many hearts with his gentle nature. One of the surprised “hosts” recognized Isco’s special way and took him in, informing the animal welfare workers at Arca Sevilla. So, Isco found temporary shelter and now lives with a loving foster family in Sevilla, where he learns about security, family connections, and puppy school. Isco is an alert, curious, and very well-mannered young puppy. He loves spending time with his people, snuggling up to them, and enjoying their company. At the same time, he is playful and always up for any fun: whether playing in the garden, exploring new paths, or relaxing together on the sofa – Isco is always enthusiastic. When it comes to other dogs, Isco gets along exceptionally well as a young puppy would. He shows a friendly and open demeanor in interactions with fellow animals, plays happily, and is neither pushy nor fearful. His intelligence is not only evident in his quick understanding of new situations but also in his keen observations and good adaptation to his surroundings. Isco brings the typical traits of a herding dog: he is independent, intelligent, and likes to make his own decisions. Herding dogs like Isco were bred over centuries to responsibly guard their herds and work as a team with humans. They are loyal, vigilant, and very people-oriented, but they do not want to “obey” but to be recognized as partners. Isco is not a dog for people who see their dog as a command receiver – rather, he needs people who appreciate his strengths, who communicate lovingly, consistently, and clearly, and treat him on an equal footing. His future home should have experience with herding dogs or large, independent breeds. An ideal home would be in a house with a securely fenced garden in the countryside, with plenty of time and patience for training and growing together. Whoever adopts Isco gets a loyal companion full of love, joy, and character. Isco is ready for the next big step – maybe with you?. This is a young, adolescent dog.

DE·Show original

About Isco

What life with Isco looks like

Isco is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Isco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Isco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Isco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Isco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Isco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Isco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Isco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
