Isla

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Hello, I’m Isla, and I’m searching for a calm, understanding home where I can feel safe, loved, and truly belong. I’m a sensitive soul who thrives in peaceful surroundings and enjoys a slower pace of life. While I may take a little time to settle into new situations, once I trust you, I’ll be your devoted shadow and best friend. One of my favourite things in the world is spending time with my people. Whether we’re heading out for a relaxing walk, enjoying a little playtime, or simply unwinding together at home, I’m happiest when I’m close to those I love. I have a playful side too and enjoy a game with my toys, especially when I can show them off and share the fun with my family. When it comes to walks, I prefer the quieter side of life. Peaceful countryside adventures, woodland trails, and places where I can sniff and explore without too much commotion are right up my street. Busy environments and lots of unfamiliar dogs can make me feel a little uneasy, so I’m looking for a home that understands my need for space and calm. I’d really love to live with another dog – not a boisterous whirlwind, but a calm, friendly companion who can help me feel settled, build my confidence, and enjoy the occasional play session with me. Having a steady canine friend by my side would make me very happy. Because I form strong bonds with my people, I can find being left alone for long periods difficult. My ideal home would have low leaving hours, with someone around for much of the day to help me feel secure and included as part of the family. I would love a home with a secure garden of my own, where I can potter about, enjoy some fresh air, and relax in a safe environment between adventures. I can also live with children aged 14 years and over.. My ideal home would be peaceful, patient, and predictable, with people who appreciate that confidence grows over time. In return, you’ll gain a loving companion who will cherish every moment spent with you and reward your kindness with endless affection. Could you be the forever family I’ve been waiting for? Love, licks and tail wags, Isla 🐾

About Isla

What life with Isla looks like

Isla is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Isla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Isla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Isla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Isla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Isla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Isla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Isla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
