Ivy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

My name is Ivy and I need my new home! Available: Approx. 08/10/26 DOB: Approx 1 year old Colour: Grey and white History: I was surrendered to rescue with my sister due to no fault of my own. • I need a patient new owner who will let me have the space and time to get comfortable in my new home on my terms. • I would appreciate some hiding spaces to start with so I feel safe. • I can be a little jumpy at first so please give me lots of reassurance and love. • I love cat nip toys, balls and a laser light to play with. I may take a few days to get use to my new home but once you’ve gained my trust I will yearn for your attention with little chirps and rubbing up against you. I like to be where my humans are, and I will follow you around the home and relax where you’ve settled. I love to cosy up next to you on the sofa, on the floor in your sight, or in/on the bed with you. I adore strokes and chin tickles and repay you with adorable purrs. I may even lick you, kiss your nose or nibble you gently. I have bursts of energy where I like to play with my toys, I can do this alone or with you throwing them for me to chase. I love to pounce at them then carry them around in my mouth. I must warn you, I am a bit of a climber so need something with height for me to explore… maybe a cat tree! After playing I’ll then have a rest where I will lazily stare at you with my pretty girl eyes. My foster mum says I’m a true little sweetheart with a cheeky side. Can I live with other cats? Possibly 1 calm female cat with extremely slow intro, but would prefer to be alone. Can I live with other dogs? No Can I live with children? Older, calm children. Can I live indoors completely or do I need access to outdoors? Outdoors when settled please Minimum adoption donation: £100

About Ivy

What life with Ivy looks like

Ivy is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Heronbank Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ivy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ivy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Heronbank Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ivy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ivy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Heronbank Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ivy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ivy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Heronbank Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ivy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
