J-Lo

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Resource-defense; Territorial; Unstable; J-Lo is very suspicious of strangers and needs his personal space. If this is ignored, he will assert the necessary space for himself. With foresight and understanding, J-Lo is a dog that can be well managed through everyday life. With his trusted people, he shows himself to be cooperative and open-minded. He has a lot of energy, is sometimes very talkative, and really enjoys training. With other dogs, he can run well in a group, and the affinity decides the interaction. We are looking for a home for him with people who bring patience and understanding and give him the chance to get to know the fun, quirky Möppi. In his new home, there should be no small children or other animals. Ressourcen-verteidigen; Territorial; Unsicher; J-Lo ist Fremden gegenüber sehr misstrauisch und braucht seine persönliche Individualdistanz. Wird diese ignoriert, verschafft er sich selbst den nötigen Freiraum. Mit Weitsicht und Verständnis ist J-Lo ein Hund, der sich gut durch den Alltag führen lässt. Mit seinen Bezugspersonen zeigt er sich kooperativ und aufgeschlossen. Er hat viel Enegie, ist teilweise sehr gesprächig und hat richtig viel Spaß am Training. Mit anderen Hunden kann er gut in der Gruppe mitlaufen, bei Kontakt entscheidet die Symphatie. Wir suchen für ihn ein Zuhause bei Menschen, die Geduld und Verständnis mitbringen und ihm die Cance geben, den lustigen, schrulligen Möppi kennenzulernen. In seinem neuen Zuhause sollten keine kleinen Kinder oder andere Tiere leben. Couching; Wandern; Kopfarbeit; Gesellschaftsfähig: Einzelhund; Zweithund; Haltertyp: Hundeerfahren; Rasseerfahren;

About J-Lo

What life with J-Lo looks like

J-Lo is a medium-sized adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Mannheim in Mannheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting J-Lo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about J-Lo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Mannheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw J-Lo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt J-Lo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Mannheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is J-Lo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if J-Lo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Mannheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know J-Lo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
