Jack

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Jack is a Staffordshire-type dog who was brought to us by the gamekeeper after they found him roaming. The people who first found him immediately fell in love with him - his kind, direct behavior quickly won their hearts, and they would have gladly given him a home. Unfortunately, Jack does not really get along with other dogs, so he could not stay with the existing animals. Now he is waiting for someone who understands and respects the characteristics of his breed and can responsibly raise and guide him. Jack is an intelligent, attentive dog who can become a balanced, loyal companion in the right hands. He is not for everyone - but for those who know the world of Staffordshire-type dogs and are not afraid of consistent, loving training, Jack can become a fantastic companion. We believe that somewhere there is the person who is waiting just for him. Someone who sees not only a breed but also an individuality in him - and who is able to give him the life he deserves: security, guidance, and above all, love. Jack is ready. Only the right person is missing by his side.

HU·Show original

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
