Jack

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jack has found a home! His story: Bistrita, Romania. The little Jack is on the lookout for a home. He and his siblings Michi, Creamy, Juna-Elin, Elli, Cooper, Käthe, and Picasso lived on the streets together with their mother. However, she is too shy, so she hasn't been caught yet. But all the puppies are safe. The mother is a German Shepherd mix. The father is unknown. Visually, Jack is a real wonder and an absolute stunner, especially with his unique facial coloring. When it comes to interacting with people, the little ones are still a bit scared, but they are still adorable. Together, they are typically playful puppies. Jack will probably grow quite a bit. Jack is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and needs to learn a lot. Sometimes, a minor mishap shouldn't be held against him, and Jack should always be guided with a positive and reinforcing training style. He is looking forward to his new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should not be left alone as much as possible. Somewhere down the line, the more challenging teenage years will also arrive. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They often "forget" everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important during this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Since the mother is a German Shepherd mix and there are indications of this in the appearance of her siblings, it would be wise to familiarize oneself with the characteristics of herding and guard dog breeds. Jack is not a dog for an apartment, and since he is still a bit scared, children should be a bit older. Jack travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport. Many thanks to Moni and Carmen! You gave Jack his name on your birthday!. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
