Adopt Jack

Male · Young · 2 years

Jack and Jill are looking for a home who can embrace this dynamic duo! They are a bonded pair looking for a home together; they share a love of toys and would happily play fetch all day, bringing lots of fun and companionship to their new family. They can be a little nervous at first but warm up quickly to new people, showing their affectionate and playful nature once they feel safe. They can be worried by other dogs, so would benefit from a home committed to continuing their socialisation out on walks. If you love collies you are sure to fall in love with this pair. Jack and Jill are looking for a calm, understanding home where they can have their own private, secure garden to relax and play safely whilst building their confidence. They would be best suited to a household with children of upper secondary school age or older, and they will need to be the only dogs in the home, with no cats; any small furries must be kept separate. They require a home where leaving hours are kept to a minimum initially, with time alone built up gradually, and where adopters can manage their environment, including the ability to separate them from the front door to help them feel secure. A quiet home away from main roads would be ideal as they have been worried by loud traffic noise. We would advise adopters to keep them on lead whilst out on walks as they are under socialised around other dogs.

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a small young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Manchester in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Manchester handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Manchester will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Manchester early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
