adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jackson has found his people! His story: Hello Sunshine…Jackson brings joy! He is a ray of sunshine in gloomy times and spreads only positive life energy. And despite his past. When our Jackson was found on the street, he was in such a terrible condition that our animal rescuer thought he was dead. Emaciated to the bones, full of lice and ticks, with large skin problems and a huge lump on his neck. Jackson is estimated to be about 6 years old. He is an extremely friendly male dog who very quickly understood what love from humans means and whose life purpose seems to be to put a smile on two-legged beings' faces. He shows himself as clever and learns quickly. Jackson is now in perfect health and more than ready to enjoy his new life! The wonderful fluffball is probably a mix of hat-, hunt-, and herding-dog. He is very fit for his age and wants to experience a lot more. A garden should not be missing in his new home. A ray of sunshine would also like to enjoy a sunbath in the green grass once in a while. Since he may also have herding-dog genes, one should be aware of their characteristics. Currently, he shows no territorial behavior and is a true friend to humans. Our Jackson is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings his EU pet passport and can move forward after a positive assessment. Also, a foster family would be a stepping stone into his new life! Who will give this poor soul a lot of love and warmth? Many thanks Yvonne A.! You gave Jackson his name and thus an identity! Many thanks Petra K.! You support our Jackson with a monthly sponsorship! Stand: 09.01.

Vielen Dank Yvonne A.! Stand: 09.01.2025

About Jackson

What life with Jackson looks like

Jackson is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jackson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jackson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jackson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jackson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jackson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jackson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jackson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
