Adopt Jacky

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 2 years

This is a rehoming assistance for a friend's animal rescuer. A special little female cat is looking for a loving home! Jacky (gray tabby, born 6/24) is an open-minded, fearless, and absolutely cuddly young female cat! She loves to be close to her owner and prefers to always be included! Unfortunately, she has chronic feline herpesvirus. A successful inner ear surgery has brought some improvement, but new owners should not have a problem with administering inhalation therapy and nose rinsing 2-3 times daily. Jacky is spayed, tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and has received her initial vaccinations. For Jacky, a home suitable for apartment living is sought, preferably with a secure balcony. Since she is very open and social, there should be other cats in the household. However, she could also move out with her friend Uschi (black and white). Uschi was born in 5/2024 and is a gentle/reserved female cat who also enjoys cuddling once she has gained trust. Uschi is also vaccinated, spayed, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

About Jacky

What life with Jacky looks like

Jacky is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Tauberbischofsheim und Umgebung e.V. in Würzburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Tauberbischofsheim und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Tauberbischofsheim und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Tauberbischofsheim und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
