Adopt Jacky

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Jacky came to us in 2019 as a found puppy and was unfortunately never picked up by her original owners. To the best of our knowledge and conscience, we rehomed her at that time. Unfortunately, it turned out later that the living conditions in her new home did not meet her needs. Therefore, Jacky returned to us after six years and is now searching for a new suitable home. Jacky is a typical Rottweiler-German Shepherd mix with the corresponding character and temperament. Therefore, we would prefer experienced and ambitious people with prior knowledge of handling these breeds for her. The female dog is friendly, attentive, and people-oriented. She enjoys the contact with her trusted people very much, loves shared activities, but also appreciates quiet moments and cuddly times. With other animals, Jacky is generally compatible. She prefers sovereign, physically stable, and preferably intact male dogs. However, we would like to reassess her social behavior with other dogs again – an update on this will follow. Jacky is not compatible with cats. Children in the new home should be sturdy and of a certain age due to her strength and size, so we recommend a minimum age of about 12 years. Jacky already masters the basic commands well. However, further work is needed on her lead manners, as she is physically very strong and can have her own mind. With consistent and fair training, this is, however, manageable. For Jacky, we are looking for a quiet home away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A home in the suburbs or in the countryside would be ideal.

About Jacky

What life with Jacky looks like

Jacky is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
