Adopt Jamie

Male · Senior · 12 years

I am Jamie … a character-strong single cat looking for an experienced home with people who will take me as I am. Would you like to know more about me? I am no beginner tomcat. I am confident and know what I want and what I don’t. Well, more of a tomcat boss, really. Lift me up or hold me tight? No, thank you. If I feel pressured, I clearly show that I don’t like it. But if you read my body language and let me decide when closeness fits, I am a attentive and interested companion. I then also let myself be stroked and brushed by the people I feel safe with. I was already twice at the animal shelter, where my previous homes were overwhelmed by my independence. I am not a “bad” tomcat – just a type with a claim. Currently, I live in the calm area of the shelter, where cats live that need a bit more consideration. Here, I get along well. And I am also allowed to go out. I like that very much. I wish for … a quiet, cat-experienced home without children and other animals. You should take me as I am: independent, willful, but with potential for a special bond. If we get to know each other and you earn my trust, we can definitely make a great team. Important: I need free roam. Being able to go out helps me immensely to reduce my energy and stay balanced. Do you bring patience, calm, and experience for a very special tomcat? Then let’s get to know each other step by step. This cat needs outdoor access.

Naja ganz Kater-Chef halt. Hochheben oder festhalten? Nein, danke.

About Jamie

What life with Jamie looks like

Jamie is a medium-sized senior cat waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Note from the shelter: Chronic bladder condition requiring lifelong specialized diet and veterinary care

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jamie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jamie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jamie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jamie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jamie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jamie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jamie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
