Jana

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Jana is a mixed-breed female puppy, likely born in December 2025, found abandoned with her siblings and brought to our Hungarian partner shelter. She is a very friendly and lively girl who loves being stroked. She enjoys playing and is happy when she gets attention. She shows a great deal of interest and intelligence in learning new things. Due to her lovable character, she is an excellent family dog and would also fit well in families with older, understanding children. Jana gets along well with all her animal companions and would make a good second dog. How she reacts to cats is not known. She wishes for loving and active people with plenty of free time to help her adjust to her new life and who either live on the outskirts of town or in the countryside. Some experience in dog care should already be present. The adult height of the female dog will be around 40-44 cm and she will weigh around 10-15 kg. Since the parents of our puppies and young dogs are often not known (at best, only the mother), the size and weight specifications are estimates based on experience, which can deviate both below and above the given figures.

HU·Show original

About Jana

What life with Jana looks like

Jana is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
