Jannis

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Attention all potential dog owners. Jannis is still looking for her home... Her suitcase would be quickly packed. Mutt Jannis came to our Bulgarian partner shelter as a puppy along with her siblings. She has now grown into a dog teenager. Unfortunately, so far no one has seriously shown interest in the friendly "free spirit." Jannis's life in the shelter should finally become a thing of the past. Her further dog life should be spent in a home with her people. She needs a fixed place in the heart of her family, which she will love with all her heart. Jannis wants to unpack her suitcase forever in her future home and grow into a happy and satisfied dog life with much love and care. Jannis is ready to place her big dog heart trustfully into the protective hands of her personal people. So far, the mixed breed dog has not learned much yet and will need the patient support of her future home to cope with the challenges of an entirely different environment. But with the loving companionship of her future family, Jannis will grow paw by paw into her new dog world and learn everything she needs to become a loyal companion to her people. All of our dog children have one thing in common. They need love, care, time, and a desire for many shared adventures. They need reliable relationship structures and structured daily routines. And at the end of the day, all the dog children should be able to look back on a day when they were loved and could peacefully, happily, and safely fall asleep in their basket. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Jannis and there is already a basket ready for her, please contact the responsible adoption officer of SALVA Dog Rescue. We would also be pleased if you could provide a foster home. You will find the contact details below. Here are Jannis's videos: Video 1, Video 2, and Video 3.

Aufgepasst an alle potentiellen Hundeeltern..

About Jannis

What life with Jannis looks like

Jannis is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jannis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jannis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jannis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jannis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jannis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jannis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jannis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
