Janos

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The sweet Janos currently looks a bit like a plucked chicken – his fur is thin, matted, and falling out in some places. The young male dog suffers from mange as well as a Demodex mite infestation, which unfortunately is not uncommon in undernourished, neglected, and stressed street dogs. But the good news is: His skin problems are already visibly improving, and with the right treatment, good nutrition, and especially a stress-free environment, the chances are very good that his fur will fully recover. We wish so much for Janos to finally find a peaceful place where he can rest, heal, and regain trust. Currently, he still lives in the overcrowded Public Shelter in Baia Mare – a place full of noise and stress, where no dog can truly relax. Therefore, a loving home or a foster home would be a huge opportunity for him. Janos is about one year old and is right in the middle of puberty – an important life phase where young dogs actually need a lot of closeness, orientation, and loving upbringing. So far, Janos has barely experienced any of that. With his approximately 40 cm, he belongs to the medium-sized dogs. When his cream-colored fur with the pretty white facial marking has fully grown back, Janos will be a beautiful young male dog. His sad, dark eyes tell the story of a life that hasn't been particularly kind to him. Despite that, he has managed to keep his friendly nature. Janos approaches people openly and confidently, allows being touched and lifted, and also gets along well with other dogs. The life in a house is probably new to Janos. House training, leash manners, or everyday routines are things he will still need to learn. With patience, loving consistency, and positive reinforcement, he will surely open up and build trust step by step. After an initial settling-in period, a visit to a positively working dog training class would certainly benefit Janos. Group training not only strengthens the dog's confidence but also the bond between dog and human. Janos is looking for people with hearts who want to accompany him on his journey – people who understand that healing takes time and who give him security, our shelter and confidence. Especially important to know: Janos has a shortened testicle. Whether it is congenital or from his past, we unfortunately do not know. Therefore, he cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Janos travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and with an EU pet passport to his new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! All das konnte Janos bisher kaum kennenlernen.

About Janos

What life with Janos looks like

Janos is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Janos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Janos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Janos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Janos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Janos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Janos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Janos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
