Janusz

Mixed Breed · Male

Such beauty, or rather, does Janusz's past paint itself on his muzzle? Janusz glances back and forth at a human from one side and then the other, as if seeing something differently each time. That’s true. Janusz’s past isn’t colorful, though we don’t know all its shades. What we do know for sure is that he lived with other dogs and gets along well with them. He hasn’t been medically attended. The drooping eyelid and slightly tilted head are so characteristic that Janusz can’t be confused with any other dog. Janusz can be unsure around new people but greets familiar ones with enthusiasm. He snuggles, kisses, and insists on being petted. He joyfully runs around the courtyard, savoring every moment of freedom. Spats were a total novelty for him, which he got to know at a fast pace. Now he confidently walks alongside other dogs and no longer reacts to passing cars. He learns quickly. He immediately caught on to getting into the car, and a short car ride was taken with great composure and calmness. We consulted a neurological specialist with Janusz. The doctor confirmed that Janusz had a past infection of the facial nerve, which is why there are visible changes in the appearance of his muzzle. It’s hard to guess what the cause is. It’s not impossible that the nerve disorder could have been inflammatory or caused by an injury 😞 Either way, it doesn’t bother Janusz. He functions like a normal dog. He has no problems with walking, eating, or playing. The doctor said that there’s a small chance this will pass, but it’s more likely that with such beauty, Janusz will always be a standout. Such an original. We are looking for a home for Janusz, a warm and caring one that will take care of this beautiful and original dog forever.

To prawda. Przytula, całuje i zaczepia do głaskania. Momentalnie załapał wsiadanie do auta, a krótką przejażdżkę samochodem zniósł dzielnie i nad wyraz spokojnie.

About Janusz

What life with Janusz looks like

Janusz is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Janusz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Janusz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Janusz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Janusz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Janusz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Janusz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Janusz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
