adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Jara has found its own home! Her story: It's hard to believe: The sweet Jara has been here for not long and already enjoys and is so happy about her current life. Jara's foster mom reports to us how great she is and praises her a lot! Jara was in the public shelter in Romania since her puppyhood. Her only contact were other dogs – apart from the visits of our helpers. Then, Jara was allowed to go out and snuggle a bit. And now, she quickly gets rid of her initial natural insecurity and reacts well to attention and calm explanation. House-trained, stairs climbing, and walking on a leash, all of this Jara can already do. She loves being in nature and is very excited to discover everything new with her people by her side. She has not met any cats yet, but she doesn't have to go on car rides at the moment, but getting her used to it shouldn't be a problem. It would be nice if she had a garden to explore and play in, she likes to be outside. In Jara's family, there are only older children, to not overwhelm the female dog. Jara is always happy about attention. She has a great medium size, currently measuring around 52-55 cm. She gets along well with her fellow animals. Jara has already gone through puberty. Jara has not been able to learn anything in her life so far. Therefore, Jara is looking for an empathetic home that is open to positive reinforcement dog training and can guide Jara through this exciting time. We would recommend an additional visit to a positively working dog training class. We are sure, however, that with lots of love and understanding, our Jara will be a great travel companion! Jara will bring her microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated status into her family. She brings her EU pet passport and will only be placed after a positive visit. Many thanks to Linda M.! You have given Jara a name and thus an identity! Date: 12.08.

Vielen Dank an Linda M.! Stand: 12.08.2024

About Jara

What life with Jara looks like

Jara is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
