Jaro

Male · Adult · 5 years

Jaro is looking for a loving home! Jaro is a dog over 8 years old, weighing approximately 20-23 kg. He’s a friendly dog who needs a little time to trust new people. Once he gets to know someone, he becomes very happy to see his caregiver and eagerly spends time with them. He also has a big weakness for treats. During walks, he can pull a bit on the leash, so he’ll need some training and calm work on leash manners. Jaro could live in a home with a gentle female dog. We’re looking for a responsible and peaceful home for him—one that will give him time to build a bond and feel safe and secure. This description is based on observations of the dog at the shelter. Jaro is currently under the care of OTOZ Animals Shelter in Tczew. Shelter registration number: 302/22. The male dog is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered. For adoption inquiries, please contact: 58 531 96 56

About Jaro

What life with Jaro looks like

Jaro is a large adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jaro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
