adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The athletic, young, and stunning Jaro is a real sight. He sits in the cramped cage, begging for love and attention. When we visited in April, he drew attention with his desperation. And with every touch and interaction, we notice how instantly happy he becomes and how relieved… without being pushy or overexcited. He has touched our hearts, just like his two siblings and his mother. In the public shelter in Bistrița, the wonderful, beautiful Jaro sits – and waits. Behind cold bars, in a cramped cage that barely allows for breathing, let alone living. The concrete beneath his paws is hard, the noises loud, the days monotonous. And yet, it is not just the confinement that makes him despondent. It is the loneliness. The silence amid all the noise. The hopelessness that has slowly crept into his heart. Despite this, Jaro has already endured so much. Together with his siblings Makaio and Caramelo, and his mother Baylee, they were all rescued by Romanian animal rescuers – from a life that can hardly be put into words. Their entire existence was bound by short chains. So short that they could see each other… but never touch. Never feel closeness, never play together, never rest together. A family – separated by mere centimeters. What this means for sensitive canine souls can only be imagined. And yet, Jaro has preserved his good heart. We got to meet the whole family. All are completely charming. Wondrous and absolutely friendly and compatible. Jaro is looking for people who will show him how wonderful a dog life can be. Who will explore the world with him. Jaro is looking forward to long walks and cuddle hours on the couch. But he also wants to be physically and mentally stimulated. Head and nose work would be the greatest for the young male dog who just passed puberty. He wishes for a more rural home with a garden, so he can slowly and piece by piece explore his new life. Jaro has a lot to make up for! Do you give your heart to Jaro? Jaro sits on packed suitcases and has his EU pet passport ready. He travels microchipped, vaccinated, flea-treated, and dewormed to his new family. Thank you very much Sarah! You gave Jaro his beautiful name and thus his identity! Date: 06.05.

Stand: 06.05.2026

About Jaro

What life with Jaro looks like

Jaro is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jaro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
