Jaron

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Jaron, born in 2020 and estimated to stand about 70 cm tall (though we can hardly believe he is really that tall himself), is the largest dog we have rescued from Cornetu. An impressive and beautiful male – and at the same time a calm, cheerful and exceptionally friendly character. At first glance, it is clear that Jaron is a livestock guardian dog. Despite his endearing friendliness, he therefore needs an experienced hand, clear structure and people who appreciate the traits typical of his breed. Jaron does not need dog sports concepts, but long, quiet walks and tasks that match his protective instinct. In a home with space, overview and clear routines, he will blossom and take his role as a loyal, reliable companion seriously. Jaron was diagnosed with heartworm (Dirofilaria), and he completed the treatment already in February 2025. In Romania this therapy is routine, and experience shows it is successfully completed after about a year. Visit update February 2026: Jaron greets his visitor in a friendly way and is overjoyed by treats. At the same time, he shows some resource guarding around food and snacks – nothing unusual for a livestock guardian dog, but an indication that he needs confident, calm people by his side. Despite his size and imposing appearance, Jaron is a dog with a soft core. A dog that wants to please. A dog that is ready to bond – when he is met with clarity, respect and heart. Perhaps this gentle giant is just waiting for you. Jaron is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped, and placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-adoption check. Note on our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly to convey as good a picture as possible of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment – with new people, new routines and new impressions – can also show itself differently. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs even open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee for every behavior in the new environment. They are meant to provide orientation and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential lies within him. We are convinced that with patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

About Jaron

What life with Jaron looks like

Jaron is an extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jaron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
