adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jax has found a home! His story: Jax is a real heartbreaker! The handsome, approximately 2 years young male dog immediately captivates with his open, friendly nature and his curious zest for life. Hardly called, he runs joyfully over to fetch cuddles or a treat – clearly: Jax loves being close to humans and enjoys every minute of safety and security. With a shoulder height of about 59 cm and weighing 24 kg, Jax brings the perfect balance of size and energy. He is playful, eager to learn, and full of energy – a true young pup eager to discover life. Whether playing together outdoors or snuggling on the couch: Jax is always fully engaged. Currently, he is still practicing walking on a leash, but makes progress every day. He also gets along well with other dogs. We have not yet been able to test his compatibility with cats. Since Jax was just rescued from the public shelter, he is still at the beginning of his new life – a life that should finally offer him safety, love, and stability. At his young age, he might be in the “doggy puberty” – an exciting, sometimes challenging, but above all important developmental phase. With loving consistency, patience, and clear guidance, Jax will develop into a loyal companion who likes to work together with his people. Whether he is familiar with life in the house or not, his future family should gently introduce him to dog 1×1 – including potty training, being alone, everyday situations, and good leash handling. A visit to a positively working dog training class can support him on this path. Jax travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He possesses an EU pet passport and will be sent to his new home after a positive assessment. Who will give the lively Jax a home where he can settle in, learn, and simply be a dog? Many thanks to Fabienne H., who gave Jax his cool name and the chance at a new chapter! As of: 13.09.

Stand: 13.09.2025

About Jax

What life with Jax looks like

Jax is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jax, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jax?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jax on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jax if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jax already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jax isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jax and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
