Adopt Jeanie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

♀, born approx. 01/2026 active – affectionate – people-oriented In Bulgaria, Jeanie is a mixed-breed female dog born around 01/2026 who will likely grow to be medium to large in size. Jeanie is a young mixed-breed female dog just beginning to discover the world beyond her previous surroundings. She was rescued along with her siblings Carlo, Kelly, and Jodie from a hoarder household. Today, Kelly is safe and finally getting the chance to settle in, build trust, and experience a normal dog’s life. As a puppy, Jeanie is still unfamiliar with many things and must gradually learn how everyday life works: new sounds, different surfaces, walking on a leash, meeting strangers, and living indoors. She needs people who will give her time, avoid overwhelming her, and patiently and calmly show her that she can rely on her trusted people. With clear routines, loving consistency, and plenty of affection, Jeanie will gradually become more confident and increasingly open up. We hope to find Jeanie a home that enjoys guiding a puppy through all that entails: house-training, learning calmness, understanding boundaries, building trust, and discovering the world in small, manageable steps. A reliable daily routine, gentle training, and sufficient rest periods are essential so Jeanie can properly process her experiences. Anyone who gives Jeanie this chance will gain a young female dog full of potential who grows braver every day and can develop into a loyal companion. Jeanie will be rehomed vaccinated and microchipped. She is still too young for spaying. She is located just outside Sofia/Bulgaria. The adoption fee for Jeanie is 480 euros. About Jeanie

What life with Jeanie looks like

Jeanie is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jeanie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jeanie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jeanie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jeanie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jeanie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jeanie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jeanie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
