Jerry

British Shorthair · Male · Senior · 12 years

Meet Jerry! This little love bug can be a bit nervous when you first meet him but once he knows you he is such a sweetie! He loves lots of fuss and although not a lap cat; he is very happy to snuggle up beside his favourite people and enjoy lots of head and chin rubs; often boofing your hand with his head if you dare to stop. Jerry can be a bit of a sensitive sausage and would be best suited living with a sensible older school aged child who will understand that he will need time and space to settle before he is ready to make friends. He can be settled into a quiet corner of the home with all his resources and plenty of cosy hiding places and will need a permanent litter tray kept down for him in a quiet and private area of the home. Jerry will need outside access once settled. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Jerry, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. e cat you have contacted us about.

About Jerry

What life with Jerry looks like

Jerry is a medium-sized senior british shorthair cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jerry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jerry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jerry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jerry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jerry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jerry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jerry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
