Adopt Jerry

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Jerry, male dog, born 10.10.2024, ca. 60 cm, Jerry is searching for his home. Jerry is an extraordinary dog – sensitive, clever, and full of life. At first, he meets new situations and people with some caution and reserve. But give him the time to build trust, and you will quickly see his true strength: a close, honest bond with “his” person. Jerry is no dog who just goes along for the ride – he wants to belong. Closeness, shared activities, and genuine connection are his greatest joy. He currently lives on a loving foster home, where he is developing well and is gradually regaining trust in life. He is highly intelligent, attentive, and loves to do things with his people. Whether walks, small tasks, or simply being together – Jerry blossoms when he is involved. His enthusiasm is contagious, and anyone who gets to know him will quickly appreciate his open and happy nature. With other dogs, Jerry is uncomplicated. They interest him little – he is clearly oriented towards people. Jerry also brings a special story: He was already almost a year rehomed but was then returned in a poor condition – severely underweight, with a serious ear infection, and overall very energetic. That time is behind him. Today, Jerry is well cared for, in treatment, and has recovered wonderfully. He shows a lively, curious, and ready-for-a-new-beginning attitude. He has several Mediterranean illnesses, which are currently well managed and do not restrict his everyday life. Another medical follow-up will be necessary – but more important than that is a loving home with people who take responsibility and accept him as he is. What Jerry is looking for: A home with people who understand his sensitivity, give him security, and enjoy spending time with him. People who appreciate his intelligence and give him the chance to be part of their everyday lives. Jerry is no “dog for the side” – but a loyal companion who is fully there. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Jerry

What life with Jerry looks like

Jerry is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Luftbrücke für Hunde e.V. in Krefeld.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jerry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jerry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Luftbrücke für Hunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jerry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jerry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Luftbrücke für Hunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jerry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jerry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Luftbrücke für Hunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jerry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
