adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! The little Jess is still so young and yet he has already experienced things that no puppy should. Born on the streets in Romania, he grew up with his mother and his 11 siblings until we found them and placed them in our shelter. All had to witness one of his brothers losing his life on the streets. And yet: the wonderful puppy has preserved his big heart. His joy in life, his curiosity – all of this he carries forward every day, as if to say: "I am ready for my happiness." Recently, he has been living with a foster family in Germany and is showing there what a wonderful companion lies within him. Jess is an unfathomably clever little fellow who learns with enthusiasm! Within a few days, he has already understood several commands. He wants to please, belong, and do everything right. At night, he sleeps bravely in the bedroom with his foster parents, very close to his people. In the morning, he reliably alerts when it's time to go to the bathroom… then the day can't start fast enough for him, because the world with its wonderful adventures awaits! Even during the day, he shows surprising reliability and can already last for two to three hours before he finally gets to do his business on the green lawn. On the leash, Koda runs beautifully… cars, bicycles, or other children do not bother him at the moment… a little stud who simply wants to do everything right. Jess is a lively, playful young dog, full of energy and love. He seeks people who will give him time, laugh with him, learn with him, and discover the world. People who will support him but also give him the security he so deserves. Jess travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Due to his age, he is not yet neutered and will of course bring his EU pet passport with his travel arrangements. Even a foster home would be a valuable first step for Jess. Who opens their heart for this special little treasure and shows him what a real home feels like? Jess waits… perhaps exactly for you. Many thanks to Susann G.! You have given Jess his name and thus the chance at a new beginning. As of 02.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 02.05.2026

About Jess

What life with Jess looks like

Jess is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jess, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jess?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jess on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jess if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jess already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jess isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jess and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
