Jesse

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Jesse, born 03/2024 and about 50-55 cm tall, with beautiful long legs, was rescued as a puppy together with his three siblings. He has now spent his whole life so far waiting at the shelter with Alexandru. One year in which he has stayed friendly, even though no one has chosen him yet. One year in which he hopes that someone will finally return his gaze. He is a nice and friendly young dog. Still, Jesse is not one of those dogs who shout "Yay!" at first sight and run up to people without any reservations. He watches first, checks the situation, and then opens up, at his own pace. And who could blame him? He has spent his entire life so far in the shelter. Visit update 30.08.: Jesse is approachable. He is shy and reserved, but never unfriendly, and he lets even strangers stroke him. He simply knows nothing else! He and his siblings should urgently move to an experienced foster home as soon as possible. If you give him the time he needs, however, he shows what a great guy he is! Jesse would so love to trust – he just needs someone who understands that his heart needs a few seconds longer to open. And that is exactly why he must not lose any more precious time in the shelter. Jesse is a young dog who should now learn, experience, and settle in. He needs people who explain the world to him – patiently, lovingly, and without expectations of him! We are therefore urgently looking for a foster home or a home for Jesse. A place where he no longer remains invisible, but can finally begin to discover life. So we are very, very urgently looking for a foster home or a home for Jesse! A place where he is no longer invisible, but can finally begin to discover life! Jesse already brings the most important things with him: a big heart and the wish to belong. Perhaps now is the moment when someone truly sees him. Jesse is neutered and will be vaccinated, chipped, and placed after a positive pre-adoption check with a protection contract. Departure from Romania possible immediately. Note regarding our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in conveying as good a picture as possible of each individual dog. However, we would like to point out that a dog may show itself differently in a new environment – with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs open up even faster in a home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee of every behavior in a new environment. They are meant to provide orientation and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential lies within him. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and develop positively.

About Jesse

What life with Jesse looks like

Jesse is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jesse, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jesse?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jesse on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jesse if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jesse already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jesse isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jesse and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
