Jette

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Mixed-breed Jette is looking for a new home. After six years, the loyal dog loses her previous home and her familiar surroundings. For Jette, this is a big change, which is why she needs people who meet her with calmness, patience and understanding and give her the time she needs to find trust and security again. Jette is an exceptionally loyal and obedient dog who bonds closely with her humans and loves her "pack". She doesn't need big adventures and is definitely not a sports dog. She much prefers leisurely, quiet walks and then a relaxed spot in the sun. Her idea of a beautiful day is rather: being there, having her humans around and making herself comfortable. However, Jette also has a confident and territorial side. She likes to guard her home and can be very clear to strangers that they are not just in her territory. That's why she's looking for a quieter home with dog-experienced people who understand her characteristics, give her security and at the same time deal with her confidently. Children should not live in her new home. Jette also decides on her compatriots first by sympathy. The initial contact can sometimes be difficult, especially with larger dogs. However, she usually gets along very well with smaller dogs, especially males. Once Jette has met and accepted another dog, she enjoys its company and a life together is usually possible. A suitable smaller male dog could therefore be a real asset for her. Jette needs medication due to an underactive thyroid, but she is well adjusted. Her medication is part of her daily routine and should not be a hindrance for her future humans. We wish Jette people who are not looking for a perfect "all-rounder", but who appreciate a strong-willed dog with character. Whoever gives her security, clear structures and a lot of closeness gets an incredibly loyal companion who loves her humans from the heart. Jette does not deserve that her story ends here after six years - she deserves people who show her that a new home can also become a real home again. Here's Jette's video

DE·Show original

About Jette

What life with Jette looks like

Jette is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
