Adopt Jia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Adopt Jia!Jia is looking for an active owner who has the time and energy for a dog who likes lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She is very gentle with children so can suit living with dog savvy kids and another dog if introductions go well. She needs a home in a peaceful setting away from busy towns or cities which has access to a secure private garden and needs company for most of the day. At her core, Jia is a nervous dog who is easily spooked and is still expanding her knowledge of the world and what is expected of her, so she needs an understanding owner who has the time and patience to help build her confidence – she is sure to be a very rewarding pet for a dedicated owner. Jia is a playful girl who loves enrichment time, especially any food based activities. She is very affectionate and loves to give kisses to people she knows, yet she can be nervous of strangers, so will need a few visits to get to know her new family. She is a boisterous girl who is excellent on the lead unless there is wildlife around and then she can become very strong on the lead so her new family will need to continue with desensitization training – she loves her food and is very motivated to learn when offered tasty rewards. Jia is a very energetic dog and would suit an active family who enjoys hill walking or running, and would be interested in doing an activity like Scent work or Canicross or even Flyball. Background All of our dogs have lived their whole lives in family groups in an open space, kennel free environment and it is therefore too much of a shock for them to be an only dog. For this reason, Jia’s family needs to have an existing resident dog. Name Jia Basic Info 4+ yrs old (born January 2019) Gender Female – spayed Approx Weight 25kg Can Live With Dogs, Children Location Llandysul, Wales, UK Would Suit Active family with another dog Home Requirements Away from town centre A family with time available to socialize Jia A peaceful home A home with secure garden Enquire About Jia Adopting a dog is a life-changing decision for both the dog and their new family – our experienced volunteers are on hand to support and advise, every step of the way. If you think you’ve seen your perfect soul mate, please apply via the Enquire Now button below to begin the adoption process. Dog Rescue Adoption Donation of £300 applies (concessions considered). Enquire NowHolistic Rawfeeding Rescue We are a holistic rawfeeding rescue, so as with all our rescue dogs and puppies for adoption, Jia is being fed a natural raw diet and is currently being fed Paleo Plus for improved health and longevity. As a rawfeeding rescue, we ask that this diet is continued in her new home as she loves it so much! We provide full advice and support as standard for anyone who is new to rawfeeding dogs or holistic priniciples. Homecheck by your chosen dog applies to see if she likes her new home! Our Dog Adoption process involves several visits to get to know your dog, and for your dog to get to know you, so that the rehoming is not a shock away from all that she knows and is simply a natural transition to her new family. We find that this helps our rescue dogs to settle into their new home with less stress and anxiety and makes for much more successful adoptions. For this reason, we only rehome within travelling distance of our base in West Wales at the moment. Full lifetime rescue backup and adoption contract applies, so if for any reason our dog is not suitable or circumstances change, we require the dog to be returned to us. ** We are just a very small team here in the UK, so we are currently only able to consider adopters within travelling distance of our base in West Wales, due to the practicalities of journey times for post-adoption back-up and support from our sanctuary. We apologize if this leads to disappointment, however we have found through experience that more local dog adoptions do not overstretch our limited resources. Thank you for your understanding! About Jia

What life with Jia looks like

Jia is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at K9 Rescue in Crymych.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. K9 Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — K9 Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with K9 Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
