adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jil has found her home! Her story: Our little Jil is the loving mother of Penelope and Nakoma – a delicate female dog who, despite a tough start in life, has managed to retain her gentleness and friendliness. Jil lived with her two puppies in a poor family. When our animal rescuer Alina was at the vet picking up other dogs after their neutering, she was asked if she could take these three little ones in – because the neighbors had tried to beat them. Without hesitation, Alina took them in, even though she didn’t have any space left. To ensure that Jil and her little ones are safe, Alina built a small enclosure next to a scrap yard – not an ideal place, but the only chance they had at the moment. There, the three now wait for their new life. Jil is initially a bit shy, observing first before she dares to let anyone get close. But those who meet her gently soon get a glimpse into her big heart: She is loving, quiet, sensitive, and incredibly cuddly. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, she is social and peaceful. She also gets along well with children and cats, as long as she is not pressured. She has a gentle, cautious nature – the kind of dog that is quiet and grateful, and through her trust, says everything that words cannot. For Jil, we are looking for a home where she can finally arrive. People with patience and empathy who can give her time to build trust and learn to live in safety. A home where she will never have to be afraid again. Jil travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and neutered to her new home. She brings her EU pet passport and will arrive after a positive match. Who will give this delicate female dog a home where she can finally arrive – safe, loved, and secure? Many thanks to Insa and André for giving Jil her beautiful name. As of: 24.10.

Stand: 24.10.2025

About Jil

What life with Jil looks like

Jil is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
