Jippie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Jippie (number 22798) has come to us because his owner, due to her age, could no longer care for him. Jippie is a tomcat who wants a lot of attention. As soon as you enter his residence, he loudly meows to let you know you can't leave without having petted him. He constantly bumps into you. He tries to stay close to you all the time. According to his old owner, he is a sweet tomcat for people he knows, but here with us it turns out that he likes everyone equally who gives him attention. How he interacts with small children is unknown. With children from 16 years old, it goes well, at least. He is not used to dogs. He only accepts other cats outside. Jippie likes being outside, even in winter. Inside, he likes to sit by the window looking outside. Jippie loves running water, so he likes to sit in or near the sink. He also enjoys his own water fountain. His coat currently looks a bit damaged because he had a lot of fleas. The previous veterinarian of Jippie detected mild arthritis, but our own veterinarian found little on the photos.

About Jippie

What life with Jippie looks like

Jippie is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dierentehuis in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jippie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jippie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jippie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jippie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jippie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jippie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jippie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
