adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Peace and quiet, little Joana… Her story. Although her past wasn't pretty, Joana was found by a lady on the street who fell in love with her gentle nature and took her home. Unfortunately, the existing dogs didn't accept Joana, so they asked us for help to find her a home. Only two days later, Joana developed FIP, and her condition was so bad that everyone almost thought the treatment was too late. But Joana proved the opposite! She survived the 84-day treatment and the wait and is now completely healthy. Joana is a very cheerful kitten. She loves to play for her life, is active, and wants to participate in everything she's missed so far. She approaches people openly and starts purring as soon as you give her a little time. She also gets along wonderfully with other cats, no matter how old or what gender: she is always social, considerate, and friendly. We are sure that a new family will adopt a wonderful companion with whom you can have lots of laughs and fun! Since Joana is still very young, has great social behavior, and likes to play together, we do not want to place her in single housing. She will gladly take one of her friends with her if there's no kitten waiting for her at your place 🙂 We also only place her as an indoor cat. For her travel arrangements, Joana, like all our cats and tomcats, is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has already been tested negative for FIV and FeLV and will also carry an EU pet passport. Who will take our cheerful nature into their family? Apply now! Many thanks Monika V.! You gave Joana her name!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Ruhe in Frieden, kleine Joana… Meldet euch! Vielen Dank Monika V.! Du hast Joana ihren Namen geschenkt!

About Joana

What life with Joana looks like

Joana is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
