Adopt Joel

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Joel was dropped off at our Spanish partner animal shelter La Linea. The young Bodegueromix is still a bit uncertain about his new environment but also seeks the proximity of people. His stay at the animal shelter should not be a one-way street for the lovable Joel. He is a friendly companion who should quickly find his own dog bed with his people. Joel needs stable relationship and daily structures to continue developing. The dear male dog would like to belong to a family that will lovingly accompany him for the rest of his life. Therefore, we are looking for a suitable home for Joel as soon as possible. Joel should be allowed to arrive in his future home in peace. Everything that can provide stability and security will be beneficial for the young male dog. Daily structures and reliable relationship structures will lead to the sweet Joel being able to freely unfold and develop his small personality. Surely, the young Joel will still have much to learn and would like to be taken by the hand by his people. With the positive support of his future home, Joel will belong to the future. If you are willing to take on the responsibility for Joel and can meet the needs of the young male dog, we look forward to your serious inquiry. Adopting an animal shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life. If you have serious interest in adopting Joel, please contact the responsible mediator of the SALVA Dog Aid. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The contact details are further below. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Joel

What life with Joel looks like

Joel is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
