Johnny

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

♂, born 12/2023 - cautious - liebin 31246 Groß Lafferde Johnny is a mixed-breed male dog born around December 2023 with a shoulder height of around 65 cm. Bobby and Johnny, these super cute boys, appeared in the neighborhood of our animal welfare workers, and one of the neighbors beat them with a shovel. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the two brothers were safely brought to the intake station. However, due to this action, they were initially very reserved and feel safest in the house and in the garden. Bobby had the chance to find a wonderful home through a foster home. After that, the sweet Johnny also went to a foster home and is now on the lookout for an equally wonderful home. At first, he is very insecure and reserved. Once he gets settled, he is very people-oriented, super loving, and good with other dogs, although he doesn’t particularly like some male dogs. He is very clean, and he only does his business outside. The alone time is practiced diligently, and he already runs well on a leash and can also be recalled with a drag line. He is very eager to learn and would be happy to attend dog training classes. He is still afraid of children and is very reserved when meeting other dogs. He gets along well with cats, but he should still move to a cat-free household. Johnny needs a home that gives him security in dealing with everything. Children should not be in the home, but if they are, they should be older. One should practice a lot with him and bring patience. He is very interested in his environment and finds birds to chase very interesting. Johnny is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and tested for Mediterranean diseases. He is in a foster home in 31246 Groß Lafferde. The adoption fee for Johnny is 460 Euro. Would you like to give Johnny a home? ♂, geb. About Johnny

What life with Johnny looks like

Johnny is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Johnny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Johnny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Johnny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Johnny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Johnny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Johnny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Johnny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
