adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Johnny has found a home! His story: Johnny is now an energetic, six-month-old puppy, measuring approximately 45 cm. Together with his siblings, he was rescued in Romania when their lives were in danger. While his brothers and sisters often tried new things first, Johnny was the more reserved one in the group—he always let others go first. In his foster home here in Germany, he now shows how clever, curious, and eager to learn he is. Johnny knows cats and children, he responds reliably to his name, and already follows basic commands. With the existing only dog, he gets along well, follows its lead, and runs around the house and garden with it. On the leash outside, Johnny performs excellently. He especially loves to dash across meadows and fields on the lead, fully enjoying his life. Every day, he develops into a cheerful, cuddly, and loving companion who enchants everyone around him. For his final home, Johnny wishes for an environment with lots of green where he can live out his adventurous spirit—preferably on the outskirts of town or in the countryside. An existing dog would be a nice bonus for him, but it’s not a must. More important is that he finds people who will give him security and want to go through life with him. Johnny is looking for people who won’t have any expectations of him at first and will show him how a normal doggy life works. He is still a young puppy and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn’t be held against him, and he should always be guided with a positive training style. He is looking forward to his new life with nature walks, lots of cuddle time, and also a visit to the dog training class. Johnny is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. With his EU pet passport in hand, he is ready to move into a loving home. Thank you, Al S., for giving Johnny a name and thus an identity. As of 28.09. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Stand: 28.09.2025

About Johnny

What life with Johnny looks like

Johnny is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Johnny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Johnny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Johnny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Johnny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Johnny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Johnny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Johnny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
