Jojo

Mixed Breed · Male

Attention, here comes Jojo! The beautiful, one-year-old (as of 02/2022) Border-collie mix has recently left his job as a gas station attendant in Seville and is now looking for a new area to shine. Jojo has been wandering around on his own for quite some time before finding friends at a gas station just outside the city. Unfortunately, the staff there could not adopt Jojo, but the charming young dog always knew that he would find fresh water and something to eat if he knocked on the door after a long day. However, it is obviously not a solution in the long term to leave a sporty and people-friendly dog like Jojo to wander near the main road. Even if cars were not a big threat for Jojo, a friendly four-legged companion like him is an easy target for dog catchers - and ending up in one of the shelters in February is almost the worst possible catastrophe... So the gas station employees informed our friends from Arca, who immediately took the lively mixed breed into their care. Jojo is a super interesting mixed breed - besides the Border-collie, a Bodeguero could have easily slipped into his family tree, and the combination of these bright minds and the extreme joie de vivre of the terriers makes Jojo a real dream dog for sporty people. Jojo is already a very calm and balanced character for his age, he learns quickly and wants to please his two-legged companions. In record time, he made many friends at the animal shelter and always observes with great curiosity and interest what is happening around him. Jojo is a great dog for all outdoor enthusiasts and of course for everyone who is involved in dog sports. We are looking for people for the energetic and athletic male dog who can appropriately challenge him by age and breed, but also know how important rest periods are for dogs, and also know how to guide their best friend to take breaks between playing and playing. Jojo is already eagerly waiting to see where his journey to happiness will lead and is looking forward to meeting his own family and their sofa...

Achtung, hier kommt Jojo!

About Jojo

What life with Jojo looks like

Jojo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jojo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jojo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jojo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jojo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jojo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jojo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jojo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
