Jolijn

Female · Adult · 6 years

Special dog looking for a special person. Jolijn has been in a Spanish animal shelter since 2021. Five long years behind bars are behind her, and she is slowly becoming one of the seniors. She has become calmer, her eyesight is declining, and some minor ailments have crept in - but her heart is still big and full of loyalty. For this impressive Mastiff dog, we are looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. Jolijn becomes very attached to her person. Once she has gained trust, she is an incredible loyal and faithful companion. Towards her heart's person, she shows herself gentle and completely cooperative: lifting, cuddling, touching - all of this is no problem for her. Whoever loves Jolijn will be unconditionally loved by her. At the same time, Jolijn has typical breed characteristics: she protects her person. She would like to have her all to herself. Therefore, we are hoping for her either a single person or a couple who spend a lot of time together with her at the beginning, so that she can build a positive and stable bond with both people. Ideally, a quiet, rural home without much bustle would be perfect for Jolijn. As a Mastiff, a property where she can guard would be a dream for her. She needs a loving, clear and confident guidance that she can rely on - then she will become a wonderful companion. She likes to go for walks, but these don't need to be too long anymore. We know it won't be easy to find the right person for Jolijn. But maybe this one person is reading these lines right now. We sincerely hope for our mouse that one day she will finally leave the shelter cage and the cold, wet concrete behind her and arrive somewhere. To live once in a loving environment, feeling safe and loved - that would be a dream. Jolijn is waiting. For years. Maybe waiting for you specifically. Contact her adoption officer if you want to give Jolijn a chance. Here goes Jolijn's video.

Jolijn wartet. Seit Jahren. Vielleicht auf genau Sie. About Jolijn

What life with Jolijn looks like

Jolijn is a adult dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jolijn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jolijn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jolijn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jolijn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jolijn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jolijn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jolijn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
