adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jonsy can stay forever in its foster home! Jonsy can finally travel to its foster home in mid-December! His story: Cluj, Romania. Our Jonsy – a dream of a shepherd dog! Jonsy really captures everyone's heart and enchants our local helpers – constantly! Is Jonsy also capturing your heart? Jonsy was found in the city. He was sleeping peacefully and was very hungry. Our animal welfare workers took him in because it was obvious he had problems with his legs. It is suspected that he ran into a trap and freed himself. Therefore, he now has a deformity on his front leg and only has two toes. Sometimes he also limps with this leg. According to a Romanian veterinarian, his leg is healthy, and the surgery in this country is not advanced enough to help Jonsy further. We cannot rule out that Jonsy will need further treatment in his family. Jonsy is estimated to be about 6.5 years old and has a typical shepherd dog size with a shoulder height of about 60 cm and a weight of 27 kg. He will certainly bring with him the corresponding herding dog traits. Jonsy is described as very friendly. He wants to be near people at all times, loves to be stroked, and highly values the attention of people. He seems quite uncomplicated and gets along very well with other dogs. We do not know Jonsy's past. But his future is now in our hands, and we hope it will be wonderful. We wish Jonsy a loving home that embraces him with his disability and never lets him go. He wishes to be able to lead an animal-appropriate life. A positively reinforcing training style and regular contact with his fellow animals are very important to us here. For a large dog like Jonsy, who will certainly live up to his genes sometimes, we wish a more rural home. In addition to physical exercise, he should also be occupied with head and thinking games. Other dogs in the household can be present, but this is not a must. Our Jonsy is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has his EU pet passport and can travel after a positive our area fan of big ear stands? Then Jonsy is the right one for you! Many thanks Klaus F.! You have given Jonsy a name and thus an identity! Date: 14.12.

Stand: 14.12.2022

About Jonsy

What life with Jonsy looks like

Jonsy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jonsy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jonsy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jonsy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jonsy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jonsy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jonsy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jonsy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
