Joschi

Border Collie · Male · Puppy · 6 months

3 boys and 2 girls. They were born in Lida, our partner animal shelter, because their mother was found pregnant by the authorities and brought here. They were lucky to grow up with their mom in peace: not on the side of the road, but in baskets with blankets, plenty of water and food, and a mom who didn't have to worry about anything. Now the little ones are big enough and ready for a family. Joschi is like his siblings, a lively, friendly young dog who approaches people without fear. He has had nothing bad happen to him: he was born in the shelter and has lived with his siblings and his mom in a pen until now. Here they play, cuddle, romp, and when a human wanders in, the joy is huge. We are looking for a home for Joschi in a family with dog experience and a garden. An initial dog can live in the home. Children should be 7 years or older and know how to handle animals responsibly. Joschi knows nothing and must be slowly introduced to everything. Please consider that raising puppies/young dogs takes time and patience so they become great family dogs and loyal companions. We estimate he will be about 55-60 cm tall. Do you have questions about Joschi? Then please get in touch. All dogs are chipped, vaccinated and travel with an EU passport in a transport registered with the German veterinary office. The dogs travel with TRACES.

About Joschi

What life with Joschi looks like

Joschi is a small puppy border collie dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Furbys FellFreunde in Bornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joschi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joschi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Furbys FellFreunde handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joschi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joschi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Furbys FellFreunde will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Joschi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joschi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Furbys FellFreunde early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joschi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
