adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Josi has found her home! Her story: The little, cute Josi with her sweet folded ears and wonderful fur pattern is our little worry. Josi is small, pretty, and incredibly adorable. She immediately triggers a protective instinct, and one wants to hold her in one's arms. But unfortunately, Josi cannot currently handle human care and touch. We suspect that she has had very bad experiences and has been hit. She is currently still afraid of human proximity. She is probably often just grabbed and forced into unfamiliar situations. She is about 40-45cm tall and about 2.5 years old. She gets along well with other dogs. During our last visit in April 2024, she was already much more open and accessible. She even took liverwurst from our hand and was very happy about the interaction and contact. She even sat proudly like Oskar on her hut and laughed at the camera when she spent time with our helper and dared to take the liverwurst from our hand 🙂 We are sure that she will thaw out in a quiet environment and integrate herself into her new life happily and well. She is curious and open and wants to participate in life. Only until now, she was unfortunately denied that. We would like to change that and hope very much that she can soon travel to her own family! For Josie, we wish for a patient, friendly, and loving interaction with experienced people who have no expectations of her and who are not intimidated by setbacks. Children should not live in the household. Josie is looking for a quiet home, preferably rural, with an enclosed garden and enough places to retreat if it gets too busy for her. She should always be allowed to set her own pace and be able to decide what is doable or not for her.

About Josi

What life with Josi looks like

Josi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
