Jovie

Lurcher · Female · Adult · 4 years

Jovie is a bright, high-energy girl just waiting for her chance to shine in a loving home. Full of enthusiasm and affection, she absolutely adores people, loves a cuddle, and is always keen to please. With the right guidance and structure, Jovie has so much potential to grow into an incredible companion.&;&;&;&;Sadly, we don&;t know much about Jovie&;s early life, as she came into our care via the police, and it&;s clear she hasn&;t had the easiest start. Because of this, she can sometimes feel unsure around other dogs, however, when handled confidently, she can walk nicely alongside a group and is learning that the world doesn&;t have to feel overwhelming. As a lurcher mix, Jovie has a natural high prey drive, so she would be best suited to a home without cats or small animals. She can be strong on the lead but responds well to calm, consistent handling. What really makes Jovie special is her loving, fun nature. She is desperate to bond with someone of her own and would thrive in a patient home willing to invest a little time in her training and confidence. She watches other dogs come and go, and we would love nothing more than for it to be her turn next.Jovie would be happiest in a home with children aged 12 and over, where she can settle, feel safe, and finally enjoy the stable, happy life she deserves.&;&;seized by the police due to neglect

About Jovie

What life with Jovie looks like

Jovie is a small adult lurcher dog waiting at Animal Care Lancaster Morecambe in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jovie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jovie?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Lancaster Morecambe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jovie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jovie if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Lancaster Morecambe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jovie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jovie isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Lancaster Morecambe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jovie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
