Joy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Joy is a sweet, petite Jack Russell mix, and she arrived with her sister Pixie. Pixie is still very shy and not quite ready for adoption, but Joy is blossoming beautifully and showing her true, gentle nature. She’s around 3 years old, neutered, passport ready, and able to travel anytime. Joy can be a little unsure when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, she warms up quickly and absolutely loves a cuddle. She’s a soft, affectionate girl who just needs someone kind and patient to help her continue building confidence. Joy currently lives happily with both dogs and cats. She will be nervous around children — she hasn’t got a bad bone in her body, but she would feel most comfortable in an adult home or one with older, calm children who understand her gentle nature. Right now, Joy is in foster with the wonderful Golden Kobe Family in St Albans, where she is learning all about life in the UK. She’s gaining confidence every day, and she is available to view. If you’re interested in offering Joy the loving home she deserves, please send us a message. 🏡 Home check & adoption fee apply 🛡️ Full rescue backup provided

About Joy

What life with Joy looks like

Joy is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue in Bulgaria.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇬Adopting from Bulgaria

Bulgarian shelters typically include full vet workup, sterilization, and passport. Many coordinate with EU rescue partners for direct transport to adopter cities in Germany, Netherlands, and Austria.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
