Fidel

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Fidel, born around July 2019, about 40 cm tall, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, is looking for two-legged companions he can trust. Our Fidel prefers to choose his friends himself, both among other dogs and among people. He often greets strangers with suspicion at first and tries to chase them away by any means. Many things in traffic are also still not entirely comfortable for him. But once someone has earned his trust, he gladly engages with his favorite person and can handle these things much more calmly. Then he also shows his cuddly side and loves to snuggle on the sofa at length! We take Fidel to the dog training ground regularly, and we would like his new two-legged family to continue this with him. There he enjoys playing with selected dogs, preferably female ones, of course! You can also see him there approaching other people on his own and carefully making contact. Fidel is definitely not a couch potato. At the training ground he likes to really go for it, and he also loves long walks! Cats and small animals should not live in his new home, and children should be older, since his mood can change quickly if he feels pressured. Who would like to get to know our little Fidel and show him the big wide world?

DE·Show original

About Fidel

What life with Fidel looks like

Fidel is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Stadthagen in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fidel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fidel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stadthagen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fidel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fidel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stadthagen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Fidel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fidel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stadthagen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fidel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
