Julia

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Julia (born approx. 2016 / 50 cm) is one of those dogs who value calm and clarity. She tends to be reserved to shy around unfamiliar people. She needs time to build trust and clearly shows when something becomes too much for her. With other dogs, Julia is selective. She often appears dominant and does not get along with every dog. In her previous kennel, she lived for a long time with a very submissive female dog, which worked without problems. Under stress, however, she can also react irritably toward other dogs. Her path in the training camp: Julia was moved to Izvoru, to our small "training camp." There she is learning, step by step, to tolerate human closeness and touch. She is making small but visible progress, and she shows that she wants to learn when she is given a sense of security. What Julia needs: Julia is a dog who needs clear structure and experienced people at her side. A quiet home without other dogs would be ideal for her. As a "only princess," she can best settle in, relax, and build trust. Anyone who gives Julia time, does not pressure her, and takes her signals seriously will get to know a dog who opens up in small steps, entirely at her own pace. Julia is already 10 years old and should not spend any more time in the shelter. The cold winters and hot summers are increasingly taking a toll on her. That is why we are urgently looking for an "experienced foster home or an experienced family." Ideally without other animals and without children under 16. Julia is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped, and, after a positive pre-check, placed with a protection contract. General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in presenting each individual dog as accurately as possible. However, we would like to point out that a dog may show itself differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides of themselves that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee for every behavior in a new setting. They are meant to provide guidance, showing how the dog presents itself at the shelter and what potential it has. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

About Julia

What life with Julia looks like

Julia is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Julia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
