Julinka

Mixed Breed · Female

Some people should never have to hold a live animal in their hands. Yes, humans make mistakes—but ultimately, the one who ends up carrying a lifelong trauma is the animal itself. In early October, we received a call that a kitten had been found. That’s nothing new; it’s a classic scenario. But how it was found—that was anything but typical. On October 8, Julinka was sitting in Stromovka Park. And she wasn’t just sitting around freely—she was locked away in an abandoned cardboard box, completely wrapped in her own feces. She had no hope of help, no hope even of being able to go outside and find food somewhere. Thankfully, Stromovka is a busy place, so at least she had one chance—a single, slim chance that someone would notice her, someone who wouldn’t just walk by indifferent. And fortunately, she did get that chance. It wasn’t easy for her at first; her ears were red all the way up to her head, and she suffered from terrible diarrhea. From the very beginning, Julinka had diarrhea—and no wonder, since she was infected with both roundworms and tapeworms. Unfortunately, those parasites damaged her intestines, and she’s been struggling with diarrhea ever since. She has trouble digesting fats, which means she simply doesn’t absorb enough nutrients. To successfully treat her, she’ll need individualized care. She’ll need to be on a special diet and kept in an environment free of other cats, because she’s highly sensitive to any kind of intestinal infection. We simply can’t provide that kind of care for Julinka at the shelter. She’d have to be kept in a cage, and even then, the shelter could never guarantee a completely infection-free environment. That’s why Julinka needs temporary foster care—where she could live as an only cat or at least be separated from other cats until she’s fully recovered. All our foster homes are already full of kittens; we simply don’t have any more space to take her in. We’d need to find her a foster home or permanent home, with the understanding that we’d naturally provide and finance her medical treatment and special diet.

Některým lidem by živé zvířátko nemělo nikdy přijít do ruky. Ano, lidé dělají chyby, ale kdo z toho odejde s traumatem do života je koneckonců jen to zvíře. Na začátku října jsme dostali telefonát, že se nalezlo kotě. To není nic nového, taková klasika. A šanci naštěstí dostala. To Julče v útulku vůbec nemůžeme poskytnout.

About Julinka

What life with Julinka looks like

Julinka is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Útulek Kocour Felix (PSOZ) in Czech Republic.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julinka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julinka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Kocour Felix (PSOZ) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julinka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julinka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Kocour Felix (PSOZ) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Julinka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julinka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Kocour Felix (PSOZ) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julinka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
